'Our Ladies Of Horror' started as a university publication brief. Inspired by a self-set horror movie project in October 2018, I wanted to create a zine about what makes a well or poorly written female character in the horror genre. The zine is part-critique and part-celebration of the characters, spanning from the 70s to the modern day.
The first issue was riso printed, stitch-bound, and released in March 2019, along with an A3 poster and two screen printed patches. The second issue was released on November 5th 2019, the third in July 2021, and the fourth in January 2024 alongside a Villains 'Special Edition.'
This zine, and the research that went into it, ended up influencing my university dissertation (Archetypes of Mothers in Horror Films) and other publications, Daughters and Sons of Friday, ad Queer Fear.
